News4Kids.in - A Social Experiment

We were looking for a site that's a source of good kid friendly news to develop their current affairs knowledge. While we found a few from around the world, nothing really was India specific. Shouldn't kids know about the President of India before POTUS, about ISRO before NASA, about Kabaddi before Baseball? That was the thought behind thinking about curating a news page by ourselves. But wouldn't more parents want the same for their kids? But who'll do the news selection? Quid Pro Quo. If you want your kid to benefit, you contribute. A 5 minute contribution is all that'll be needed.

Please comment if you are interested. We can collaborate and start with a basic site within a couple of weeks and then go from there.

Nokia the great!!!!!

Open stretch.... 80+kmph... speed breaker... zooooom and landed cleanly... but the little thing in my pocket continued it's flight and landed on the tarmac.... dum, dadatadam... Dummmmm... combed the area and finally retrieved it in bits and pieces...

Took me about 30 min to find all of them in the highway during peak evening traffic.. By then the phone had been run over by god knows how many vehicles... At first i had no hopes of finding the pieces... found all the pieces scattered over abt 50 mts... :( did some 7-8 rounds to find them all... almost all...

I thot it wudn't work anymore and was hoping i cud atleast retrieve the contacts out of it...

I'd thot abt switching to Nokia 5800 in 6 months time and on the way back from the incident was cursing myself now that i've to shell out 15K for that now itself...

Reached home and just tried to put the pieces of the jigsaw and tried to switch it on and blimey.....

The people connector came up... and it worked just normal.. only that i had to hold the panels together to stop it from falling out... i even spoke to my friend of half an hour...

Now all i have to do is just change the Panel... :D

Coming back to the "almost all..." part... i realised only at home that the the memory card was missing..:( thankfully nothing important stored in it...

Long Live Nokia....

another jlt

here i am... sitting in front of the TV exactly in the middle of the night watching 2 arch rivals playing... but I'm not as excited as i wud've been normally when watching an Indo-Pak cricket match.. I'm sure it's not coz it's a warm up match... both of them are giving their best... i guess it's more to do with the IPL.. I've kinda got a little bored of all this Glitzy quickie stuff.....
It's been a busy couple of weeks.... i realise how difficult it is to be a manager... I have a couple of freshers reporting to me and lots of work to be done... but I'm not really confident they can do what's required... it's a bit complicated and very critical... anyway I've given them something to work.. lets see how they do it... probably will get some confidence once i see the results...

Back!!!

Back.... but how long before laziness takes over me again??????? kadavulukke velicham... :)
But comedy ennana the reason for me writing this one is laziness.. :D
Home alone... Keerthi is off to Hyd to meet up with friends.. ysday went off well with kamlesh's treat in the afternoon, xbox till 7 with Lokesh, Ravi and Arun at home...
Lokesh as usual ran away... What he does over the weekend is such a mystery to all of us.. we probably have to hire a detective... ;)
Arun and Ravi went to Forum to buy a few gifts. The plan was to finish their shoppig and then go to Hyderabad... It'd been a loooong time since all of us had Biriyani there... The plan got changed to dinner and movie... But as it always seem to happen to me... i had to wait for abt 20 min in front of Transit while these guys were searching for a card, which they ultimately didn't get...
There was this dialogue in a movie. "Being punctual is a curse. You always end up waiting.". How tru... If i have to list the things i hate, having to wait for someone will be right at the Top... I can actually feel my anger moving up to my head.. A lot of ppl have been at the receiving end.. Arun was the unfortunate one ysday...
Anyway went to 99... It was a nice good TP... once watchable... Surely not as bad as Uma had predicted it was...That's his speciality.. he can predict how a movie is without even seeing it... :P
Went for dinner to paramount.. one of the very few restaurants open beyond 12.... Had a lot of informative discussions and came back home.. Those 2 started another game on xbox.. i cudn't stay awake anymore and went off to sleep...
Today, whole day spent on the bean bag and bed, alternating between Internet, TV and xbox... got bored of it and sat down to write this blog...
yuppieeeeee managed to write one full page of it...

The kingfisher experience

I was all excited about travelling back... I was so excited that I even went to the kingfisher site and checked out their entertainment section to see which were the movies that were on at that time.. and decided to see “Chak de” and Monster-in-law.

After all the Fiasco and settling down, my first impression of the airlines was Good... the lady at the checkin desk was sweet and helpful and let me check-in beyond their usual closure time...

The seats were comfy.. pretty much the same as in Jet. But I felt the netted bag for foot rest in Jet was more comfy than the pedal like ones in KF.

There were a couple of other hiccups as well...

The in flight entertainment wasn’t working for most part of the journey... Vijay Mallaya gave a nice welcome speech and then I was watching Chak de as per plan ;)  and suddenly the screens blanked out in one section of the flight.. Though a few came up after a couple of minutes, most were out for more than 3 hrs... I had to be content with watching the movie from another screen ( thankfully there were subtitles and it was readable from 2 rows behind J) .

The Firang, an Australian named Anna had woken up for some time and was chatting with her for some time.... she waited for some time for the  In Flight Entertainment System to start and then went back to her sleep... L

And the AC.. it wasn’t as cool as u normally expect in a flight... I usually see ppl using the blankets provided, when they sleep.. but most of the blankets weren’t opened at all...

Food... again another ok... for breakfast, the so called uttappam was hard and the sambhar wasn’t tasty at all... The previous nights’ dinner was much better..

The best thing abt KF was obviously the airhostess... ;) there were quite a few of them compared to Jet... and they were good...

Well the overall experience wasn’t as good as I had expected after all the “King Fisher, Travel like a king” stuff... Given a choice I wud fly Jet
