The kingfisher experience

I was all excited about travelling back... I was so excited that I even went to the kingfisher site and checked out their entertainment section to see which were the movies that were on at that time.. and decided to see “Chak de” and Monster-in-law.

After all the Fiasco and settling down, my first impression of the airlines was Good... the lady at the checkin desk was sweet and helpful and let me check-in beyond their usual closure time...

The seats were comfy.. pretty much the same as in Jet. But I felt the netted bag for foot rest in Jet was more comfy than the pedal like ones in KF.

There were a couple of other hiccups as well...

The in flight entertainment wasn’t working for most part of the journey... Vijay Mallaya gave a nice welcome speech and then I was watching Chak de as per plan ;)  and suddenly the screens blanked out in one section of the flight.. Though a few came up after a couple of minutes, most were out for more than 3 hrs... I had to be content with watching the movie from another screen ( thankfully there were subtitles and it was readable from 2 rows behind J) .

The Firang, an Australian named Anna had woken up for some time and was chatting with her for some time.... she waited for some time for the  In Flight Entertainment System to start and then went back to her sleep... L

And the AC.. it wasn’t as cool as u normally expect in a flight... I usually see ppl using the blankets provided, when they sleep.. but most of the blankets weren’t opened at all...

Food... again another ok... for breakfast, the so called uttappam was hard and the sambhar wasn’t tasty at all... The previous nights’ dinner was much better..

The best thing abt KF was obviously the airhostess... ;) there were quite a few of them compared to Jet... and they were good...

Well the overall experience wasn’t as good as I had expected after all the “King Fisher, Travel like a king” stuff... Given a choice I wud fly Jet

Varanam Aayiram

I was waiting for this movie so much that I felt so bad I cudn't get tickets for the first day first show. So came early from office and booked the 8.45 show.

The movie starts with a sad note but the way the story moves from then on is just so good.. It’s an amazing feel good kinda movie and just when u think it’s  going to make you feel that way all the way…. BHOOOOM!!!! Tragedy strikes… And then just when u think Surya’s going to come out of it, he suddenly goes down, goes deep down….

The movie then shifts to thriller mode when Surya is on the path of self realization and yet another little flower blooms in his heart and this time he holds on to it… The movie ends in the same way as it starts, on a sad note.. but you come out feeling you’ve just seen a really really good movie… Surya’s is just too good… and Simran… amazing.. She’s done 10 times better than “Kannathil muthamitaal”.  Songs were pretty ok but not great… probably will be better if I hear it a couple of times..  The attention to detail was very good.. Though there were a few questionable logic, the vehicles, surroundings etc of 30 years back flashback was well looked into… Yet another movie where the hero tries too hard dance… Dance is not Surya’s strength. But he’s really tried hard in this movie… Even the first heroine was not a good dancer.. But looked perfect fit for a typical Engg topper doing her MS in US.

I was so impressed by the movie that I wanted to do something different for the review…

So here’s a timeline graph….

Aegan and Seval

Our hero goes to a picks up a few randon DVDs and watches them... and then he decides, ok let me take the story from "Main Hoon Na", stunt from "Matrix", and a few dance sequences from none other than "Michael Jackson"!!!!!!!!!!! and name it Aegan(Apdina ennanu ennaku innum theriyaadhu). I read the story outline and when it said Ajit is a commando and stuff i was a little scared. It didn't sound like Main Hoon na story in that. But the movie was actually watchable. Both the heroes in the movie could hardly dance. So wat did they do. They made the heroes stand in differnt poses, take photo and run those photos in a sequence quickly. It's like those cartoons. Funny it does look like they are dancing sometimes. And Thala's dance. Thaan aadavitaalum than thoppai aadum'nu correct'a prove pannitaaru... and u shudn't forget to watch the Freedom song.. Mannnn he tries to imitate MJ in thriller... hilllarious....Thala pol varuma... :D
Seval..
Only thing u can watch this movie is for Vadivelu's comedy.. other than that... bakwaaas..

Knock knock i am looking to marry

Guy: You know i'm planning on buying a Honda City
Girl: Wowww...why all of a sudden??
Guy: My girl friend wants me to own a nice car...
Girl: girl friend... hmmmm... did you ask her if she likes the car you are going to buy?
Guy: She's already said Wowww....
Girl: so who is she??
Guy: Who ever she is, i really like her ...
Girl: So tell me.
Guy: You should know. you tell me..
Girl: hmmmmm... not a bad idea ...
Guy: Yesssssss.....

Isn't this so sweet?? Yup that's how the proposal happened... ok before you guys call me to ask who the girl is, lemme tell you, it's not my story... Am sure most of you wud've guessed it... just wanna give some build up... a lil eye catching status will surely increase the number of ppl who are reading my blog u see... he he.. Ellam oru vilambaram dhaan...

Btw this dialogue was in a movie, "Knock knock I am looking to marry". Haven't heard of it?? Most ppl wudn't have... Even I hadn't until 5 min before I started seeing thanks to Sharanya, a junior I suddenly happen to meet up on Orkut... shucks, I keep deviating... how very tru I wrote in the about me in my home page... oh no not again... now back to the topic...

It was a Kollywood English movie, something like monsoon wedding types, about a Tamil girl living in b’lore and is in the “have to meet some guy whom my parents have arranged” phase. The movie isn’t that great. The same old story- parents are looking for a guy, girl doesn’t like anybody, meets a guy somewhere, falls for him, different caste, parents don’t agree, says sorry to him. Here most movies end with the Hero showing the parents he’s a real hero by protecting them from some big villain or fighting the father of the girl( who had 20 years back killed his father’s uncle’s dog), hits him to the floor, raises the weapon and spears it into the ground just near the head, and the father suddenly says “Naan ujaala’ku maariten” and gives the girls hands to the hero (ufff that was one loooooooong sentence. The co-coordinator in my effective writing course had told me I shouldn’t write too long sentences; else the readers may not understand it. But I love writing loooooooong sentences… gowthammmm enuff back to the story). Ok. This movie doesn’t end like that. The girl continues seeing more guys and always moves arnd the house carrying a sad face. The parents unable to see her like this do a “Naangalum ujaala’ku maaritom”. The girl goes to the guy’s house and they hug and kiss and there ends the movie.
Ok that was the story line. Nothing gr8. Very low budget movie. So no gr8 camera work. No gr8 music. Most of them are probably friends of the director/producer. An upper middle class family speaking only English is a lil difficult to digest. They cud’ve put in a little more Tamil into the dialogs. But after all this too, the movie is nice. The main pair has acted well. The girl reminds me of some actress. Can’t get the name immediately… anyway do watch it if you are free. I picked it up from you tube.

This must be my hottest blog. In the sense, Sharanya told me about it at 7. I was as usual vetti then, having just returned from “The Water Horse” movie. Started watching the movie at 7.15.it was over at arnd 9 and here I’m done with the blog by 9.45. So suda suda blog…. idhoooo

Blood and chocolate

My movie marathon continues with "Blood and Chocolate". This time it's about a girl, Vivian, who is a member of a supernatural race called loup-garou, werewolves. It about how she falls for a human, Aiden, an artist who is writing a graphic novel about the loup-garou. Vivian happens to be the girl whom the leader of the pack, Gabriel wants as his next mate. So he sends his son to threaten Aiden away from Vivian. The 2 end up fighting and Aiden kills Gabriels sun with his silver pendant (Silver is poisonous for werewolves). So the tries to kill Aiden and Vivian tries to protect him. And she suceeds after lots of blood and after killing Gabriel. It's a pretty nice movie. doesn't slag. pretty quick one...

sudden craze for movies..

Ok this is yet another blog born out of boredom... as usual no work at office... so thot will blog a bit about my new found craze for movies... Since I got my cineworld pass, paying 13£ pm for unlimited movie, I’d taken it up to watching at least a couple of movies a every weekend... and an occasional movie during the weekdays when I’m done with my cooking early... but some how it all started last Saturday with "The great debaters", I had been watching movies over movies @ an average of more than 1 a day.. after the great debaters which unfortunately got stuck at the last half hour, I did a back to back of Bheema, the much awaited(looooooong awaited)flick by Vikram and Trisha, which turned out to be less than ordinary. I had to skip the last 15 min so that I wudn't miss the start of the next movie, “Sunday”. A comedy movie played by Ajay Devgan and Arshad warsi. It was another ok kinda movie... came back and watched a bit of pathfinder, the movie about a Viking guy brought up among the Native Americans, who then hunts down the Vikings who had destroyed his village. Finished the movie on Sunday and then watched the Bourne identity, based on Robert Ludlums famous novel. Our “Vetri vizha” was also based on the same novel.

Monday was rescue Dawn, a movie about the escape of a group of American POWs, headed by an American navy pilot during the Vietnam War, who ultimately is the only person to make it out successfully.

Tuesday was 28 days later. The UK version of “The Resident Evil”, but seriously lacking the thrill of it.

It was “Kingdom of Heaven” on Wednesday. An epic based on the crusades for Jerusalem. Orlando Bloom stars as a blacksmith who gets to know he’s the son of a knight and then inherits his fathers fort uses his tactical knowledge to hold against the might of the Saladin’s army.

Thursday it was Hitman. The movie about the ultimate assassin who was groomed to be one since birth.

Friday was Fracture. A movie of how Anthony Hopkins, a meticulously-minded aeronautical engineer who shoots his wife, whom he gets to know, has an affair with a cop and then confesses his crime to the same guy. He then breaks the case against him, which looks like a pretty open and shut one. Gets out of jail and signs the Coupe de grace of his wife, who’s in coma. But there were a few holes in his defence which the young and successful lawyer (whom Hopkins had put to shame in this case) finds out and gets him back behind the bars.

Saturday I watched “No country for old men”, about a person who finds 2 million dollars at a place where a drug deal has gone awry with all the participants dead and two people, one trying to kill him for the money and the Sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) who tries to save him. Then it was “Michael Clayton”, a superb law thriller film starring George Clooney, who’s torn between saving his own life and his friend. A must watch movie..

Sunday went to watch “Over her dead body”, a romantic comedy where a wife whose dies in a freak accident on their wedding anniversary, comes back as a ghost and tries to protect her husband from the psychic whom he had contacted coz of his sister. He ultimately falls for the psychic and his wife takes it upon her to prevent them getting together and succeeds. In the end realises her ultimate goal for returning back is to make her husband happy and patches them up together.

And finally signed off the weekend with “American Pie”. The hilarious no-logic story of 4 guys who make a pact to lose their virginity before they complete their high school.

I still have a couple of movies lined up for the week... let’s see how long this goes on... :D
