It’s been quite some time since I made proper lunch… so ysday decided to make something tangy and spicey. So Zeroed in on Potato puli kozhambu which literally translates to Potato Tamarind sauce. Pretty simple recipe yet again but man doesn’t it feel great to eat it…
Ingredients
2 potatoes half boiled and cut into cubes
2 tomatoes and 2 onions shopped
1 spoon of tamarind paste
Sambhar powder
Garlic and coriander leaves
Mustard, toor dal, urad dal and red chillies
Method
Splutter the mustard, toor dal, urad dal and red chillies in oil. And then put the onion and garlic and fry till it the colour starts to change slightly. Then add tomato and a little salt and turmeric powder. And fry till the tomato is soft. Then add the potato and sambhar powder and fry for 2 min. Mix the tamarind paste with warm water and pour the mixture into it. Add salt as per taste. Mix everything well and let it boil till it thickens. It will go well with rice and papad. On a cold rainy day, this is the ultimate combination.

Aalu tikka capsicum and fish tikka masala
Hmm an experiment or rather 2 experiments, both of which did came out pretty well. Had got the capsicum last Sunday and was too lazy to cook something.. Finally I decided I will do something out of it this Thursday.. I had got tikka masala paste the previous day. That made the recipe very easy to make.
For stuffed capsicum,
• Cut a little onion and tomato and fry it a bit along with some peas, boiled potato and the tikka masala.
• Add some salt, chilly powder and garam masala. Finally put some chopped coriander leaves.
• Make a small cut in the top of the capsicum and take out the seeds inside and then fill it with the paste.
• Keep it into the oven for about 30 minutes, turning it often till the capsicum is cooked well..

For fish tikka masala
• Pretty similar to the paste made above… but the cut good quantity of tomatoes since it’s gonna be a gravy.
• Fry onion and tomato, add chilly powder and when it becomes a little soft, add the fish. I had got tinned sardines marinated in tomato sauce. It was without any bones. So all the better…
• Then add the tikka masala paste, cover it and cook it in a low flame for about 10 min.
Really simple, but it came out pretty well…
