F1 2009: First impression

This year when the technical changes were announced by FIA for for the new F1 cars, to cut the costs and speed, I wasn't much worried. They did the same thing the previous years and the teams came up with various solutions to make the car faster. But one look at the new car built under the new rules, I was shocked.. The car looked like a skeleton. It was more pronounced in the BMW cars. BMW had those cute little horns on the nose and on the engine cover and a lot other small aerodynamic stuff all of which have been stripped off.. The most obvious change is the new front wing which looks lower and wider, making the car look like a Crab and those aweful wings standing behind the car like an Air Traffic Control Tower...
The FIA calls it cost cutting. To stop teams spending a lot for aerodynamics. The withdrawal of Honda will strengthen FIA's calls for cost cutting... The next plan is to introduce standard engines with a lower power in 2010...
Hey isn't F1 supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsports where new innovations are made in the auto industry? Might as well have a F1 race of cycles. a lottt less cost, a lot less area to develop and a wayyy lot slower...

When Ponting said this in one of this interviews, I'm sure there will be 10 people making hulla bulla abt it.. but I for once agree to Ponting.. His commentry is getting more irritating by the day... 

3rd ODI between India and England. Flintoff moves across the stumps to a Y Pathan offspinner, misses it and gets out LBW. What does sunny say?? "I can't understand y Flintoff played that way. He's very strong straight down the ground. Y would he play such a nothing shot"... Ohh come on.. midon was up in the circle and midwicket was open. and it was a safe single. You can't hit every ball down the wicket. 

One more during the 2nd ODI. Freddie hits Yuvi for a six and next ball gets LBW trying to sweep him for a single.. Sunny bhai says,"He's just hit a six and now why does he want to play such a shot for just one run." I'm sure he'd have said,"That's very good batting from Flintoff. He hits a siz and then takes a single of the next ball and rotates the strike. ", if Freddie had connected the sweep for a single.. 

:D one more just as i write this. Ishant bowls a slower delivery well wide of the off stump and Owais shah was stupid enuf not to smack it over point. It was a power play for god's sake... "That's a very good slower delivery and bowling coach Prasad would be proud of it. "A wide slow ball is the last thing a bowling coach will be proud off..

He did it

After months of agony and wait he finally crosses and milestone and is now the highest runscorer in test match cricket which means he's now on top of both ODIs and Tests. The God also known as Sachin Tendulkar does it on Day 1 of the 2nd test after having missed it by a kitten's whisker(by about .1% of his total runs) in the previous innings...
We've all been waiting for this feat since the the Srilankan tests and somehow I felt it got to Sachin as well... But what the heck.. he's made it now and that's wat matters..
I understand Sachins urge to be on top, be it on top of the bowlers, the hundreds, the totals, but lately he's got this knack of being the no 1 in the wickets list of bowlers. From my immediate memory, it was Monty first ( who got the ball signed by the God), then White in the previous test and now Siddle. There are much more gifts you can give to debutants than gifting them your wickets Sachin...

I still can't believe how we won the first round and boom!!!!!! we won the second one too and we were in finals.. yup there were only 10 teams and we got a first round bye.. We were royally thrashed in the finals by a team which is faaaaaaaaaar more supirior than us. 2 of them play for Infy team!!!! and they all played in proper jerseys and football studs... professionals u see..
we were a group of 5 ppl, 1 hasn't played football since his college, 2 haven't played since their school times and me and Lokesh have never really played Football...
The first 2 rounds were so similar.. we had a solid defense and i haardly had to do any work.. oh ya i was the goalie.. and it went to penalty shoot out..
Game 1:
i saved the first shot and then let the other 2 in. Lokesh and Mukul scored off their chances.. i took the last strike and bang i scored.. it was a nice shot low to the left of the keeper.. Hurrrayyyyyy!!!! i have won the first football match..
Game 2:
I let in the first shot. second shot brushed my out stretched hand and hit the post and the third shot was wayyyyyy off target..(lucky me ;) ) Mukul scored in his shot and lokesh missed.. so it fell on me to take the final shot.. if i score, we are thru and if i don't then we go on to sudden death.. i was so tensed and hit the ball as hard as possible.. it hit the wrong side of my foot but still went onto hit the the net on the top right corner... yooooooooooooooooooooo.. we were running arnd the ground like crazy...
was a very good feeling and we never really felt for having lost the finals.. it was anyway a foregone result...
