Random. Part 2

• Probably the last series we will see Dravid batting... It was very sad to see one of the greatest Indian batsmen struggling with lack of confidence. It's so evident even when he fields. Lots of missed catches and misfields from the guy who's on the verge of becoming the man with the most number of catches in Test cricket... :( I guess he will announce retirement soon after the second test unless he comes up with a very good score..
• First time Sachin scores a century in the fourth innings for a winning cause... That's one thing the Maestro hadn't done till now... Wat more is left for him to accomplish!!!! the 2011 world cup.. ;)
• Yuvi's innings of 85 is as good as the 87 he hit against the Aussies on debut. This test is more like the debut for him...
• Yet again another news abt Infosys reaches us thru news websites. This time something as important for us as the % of salary increase...
• A fitting final send off for Bush from Iraq.
• My equities loss % has dropped below 45% after a looong time.
• Had one of the laziest weekends. Just 2 movies and a bit of shopping.. spent all teh other time at home.. playing 3 different versions of NFS and a bit og Clive Cussler.
• Got so tempted by the new offer for XBOX 360 premium...60 GB, an extra wireless controller, 3 ok ok games, all for 170£... will probably buy it today or max by this week..
• Got the tickets for my S'pore trip today.. yuppieeeeeee
  
• Just overheard the manager and came to know my replacement IS coming on the 2nd of Jan. So my travel is also as good as confirmed... yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooooooo

• No more Kumble. No more Ganguly.. :'(
• Dhoni gave the helm of the team to Ganguly after the 9th wicket of the australian innings fell... Such an amazing gesture by Dhoni who's stature has grown by leaps and bounds since he's been given the reins.
• "Kadamai Sei. Palanai Edhirpar." How true... but the vultures waiting for one small chance to get their name on the news pounces on Rajni...
• A really nice article... Install Love
• Google's new video chat is sooo coooool.. But i don't understand y they haven't made this as a feature in GTalk. I thot such things were easier to implement in a client appln than a web app. Same thing with invisible mode. Available in gmail chat not in gtalk.
• RIL, Infosys among four Indian firms in Global Dow index. Hoppefully it will pep up the sentiments of the markets here.. I had just got 10 shares of RIL in the morning to add to the 2 i had and Infy is the highest % of my portfolio :D

He and me

We used to be very close friends when i was in college. He used to come to me almost once a month, sometimes even twice.. I've never tried to drive him away from me... in spite of my moms advice.. But since then he's been so irregular that I've been without him for more than 3-4 months at a time... Finally he came back 2 days back and somehow this time i didn't like him.. i wanted him to get away from me.. and this time I've tried sooo many things
- Slept so much more than i usually do
- Taken tablets
- Taken milk with haldi
- Drank Beechams
- Ate Soothers
- Inhaled vicks
still he wudn't let go of me.. Though he's not as troublesome as he was. Still enough trouble to make me write this stupid blog...

blog again?!!??

Over the weekend, I had just read Brindz's blog which she has restarted lately and i was in the bath and i was thinking may be i shud restart it as well... it used to feel nice to actually write down something which ppl read.. had been writing my travelogues but me being the way i am, got a bit bored of travelogues and didn't find anything interesting to write upon.. it probably was more to do with my want to go back to India so desperately at that time.. anyway thinking about wat to write now, i thot may be i'll write down a few things i did since childhood which i remember. lemme see how it goess.. Hopefully i'll complete the first part by end of this week..

i don't know what time i started writing the previous entry, i had to stay in office till 9. This was the first time I'm staying so late since i came to London. I could see the difference between London and any Indian City I've gone.. At 9, the stations were deserted, couples in their own world lost in each other in the middle of the station. Not that they wudn't do it if there were a million ppl arnd them..;) the trains were running empty. Thank fully East Ham is 70% SubC (A term coined by my roomie for ppl from the Sub Continent). So cud see lots of ppl on the streets and shops open. You go to most other places in London, you'll be welcome to closed shops and deserted roads even at 7 in the night...

Bored to death

here I'm in London for the last 3 months.. but the work i do rather the lack of it has sometimes made me feel this isn't worth the expectations i had and opportunities i missed waiting for this. The weather hasn't done any good. it's coldddddd with unpredictable rains and gets dark early in the evening.. I read in "Lonely planet" (you bet!!!) that the Best time to Visit London is from May to September and here wat a tragedy i landed in London on the 1st of Oct and the way the project is going, mite never get to see the best period. I'm sitting the whole day browsing thru the net, orkutting, chatting with ppl who are like me.. :). Our project is in a stage where the client is not much enthu in getting the system enhanced. They just want the system to be stable and running till they push it off to it's new owner, RBS and make small changes which they say is critical and a week later forget abt it. They say don't want to take any risk ;). So my manager wants us to find things which can be enhanced but which will not make any drastic changes to the system. No one knows completely abt the system, neither the client, nor the support team, not even the EDS ppl who had developed it. So it's like picking your way thru a dark room cluttered with things which you can see only in fear factor, with a cloth arnd your eyes. The worst part is the whole mess is interconnected in god knows how many ways, one wrong step has the potential to bring the whole thing down. Orkut says Today's fortune: Serious trouble will bypass you. lets hope this comes true as well.....:)

don't I have much work??? ya to an extent yes... U've had lots of time over the week.
does coding no longer excite me?? sure no.. You still love the challenge
is it coz you've had so much fun over the last 10 days and want more of it???
not exactly... You usually work a lot better after a couple of days break..
but this was a longer break than normal!!!! yes it was but I don't think it's the reason y you feel less interested in work...
is Infosys boring???!!! oh no for god's sake no... You just love it.. You like the work culture a lot..
